10:09 am - Year o' fic 1: LotR, No Apologies Necessary So, as you may remember, when livelongnmarry was having their auction, I offered up not one, but two years of ficlets for bid. The first year was snapped up (amazingly quickly; I was shocked!) by heeroluva. This is the first of her year o' fic. Unfortunately, I had an idea for this fic, which means the muse laughed and decided to go in a completley different direction. Not to mention that for the longest time, I had no ideas, and no words at all to put to paper. Anyway. Onward! Title: No Apologies Necessary Fandom/Characters: LotR/Boromir and Faramir Rating: PG to PG-13 (for vaguely unsettling images) (and probably over-rated, as usual) Warnings: Nil. Or gen, depending. ^^ Notes: Inspired by the prompt "hero" from heeroluva's list. Also, Faramir is about 13 or so in this; mature enough in some ways, but not in others. Disclaimer: All characters from The Lord of the Rings belong to J.R.R. Tolkien, his estate and heirs, and to New Line Cinema. 12:54 pm - More fun stuff! So, the Friday before last, I finally did something that I'd been thinking about off and on for several months. I signed up to be a fandom sponsor at skyehawke. For those who may not have heard of it, skyehawke is an archive that is supposed to be specifically geared toward good fic. Authors who want to be able to post have to request an account at the forums and get approved by someone who is already a member/author (and sometimes it can take a long time to get approved). It's a multi-fandom archive, and also includes sections for original fiction and original non-fiction. I requested to be the fandom sponsor for the Voltron and Gatchaman sections (I was so surprised to see they'd been separated out from the general "miscellaneous" fic), and discovered this morning I was approved. Whee! Since I found out, I've been updating the character lists for each category. They're not complete yet, though; I'm still working on that part. So, folks who write fic for Voltron and Gatchaman... come on over. There should be more than just a couple authors posting in each section. The forums are also available for discussion, and it may be possible to set up our own little sub-divisions... I'm still catching up on all the sponsorship things that can be done. But I'd very much like to see some more folks posting, and folks who already post to post more of their work. :D Current Mood: chipper
